Patriotic Challenge Winners
First Place in the Patriotic Challenge went to WW1 Honor Quilt G.M. Rohyans made by Jennifer Hope from the book Where Poppies Grow, Quilts and Projects Honoring Those Who Serviced in World War I, by Denniele Bohannon and Janice Britz. The 12 quilt blocks are hand pieced and 408 leaves and 24 stars are hand appliquéd.
Second place was claimed by Fluttering Flag by Patty Davis. It was made from a pattern in the November/December 2016 edition of McCall's Quilting magazine designed by Bev Getschel.
Liberty Star Sampler by Cindy Ladig went home with 3rd place. It is made from the Liberty Star Sampler pattern by Kay Gentry of Noble Needle Quilting.
Old Glory made by Becky Bennett received Honorable Mention. It is made from the pattern Old Glory by Julie Weaver.
If you are interested in donating a patriotic quilt to the Freedom Fort Quilters, they will ensure that your quilt goes to a local veteran. They will accept any size! Even the crib size are enjoyed by veterans who are wheelchair bound.
